INFORMATION - The ability to give comprehensive information to the consultant covering the structure and performance of their group, the company’s culture and future plans. Other important information includes a specification of the responsibilities and the reporting relationships. Organisation charts are always helpful.

Written specifications, however, rarely communicate the vital requirements and it is essential therefore that the client communicates these to the consultant, eg., what are the performance criteria? What special qualities (beyond qualifications and career achievements) are necessary for success in this role? Are there any specific difficulties to be overcome?

FLEXIBILITY - To be flexible regarding interview arrangements and to be willing to see qualified candidates at unusual times if necessary. The best people are the most difficult to attract and are usually the ones with the busiest schedules.
