Unburdened by the problems of size, the small firm is unlikely to be deflected from the demanding requirements of search.
It is not always understood that the more senior the vacancy the easier it is to fill. If British Airways or ICI suddenly needed to recruit a Chief Executive, six eligible names would immediately spring to mind, well before the search began. Executive search is primarily concerned with the identification of appropriately qualified people. The more senior the position the more prominent are the candidates.
Jobs of this size do not occur all that often and although the big search firms make much of their successes at this level, the reality is that their true worth can be judged in the £100,000-£250,000 salary range. It is here where most of the action is and it is at this level that the small search firm comes into its own and has many advantages over its larger rival.
